Cinderella Plastic Surgery Q&A: What to Expect?

Patients have many questions and inquiries about surgery and what to expect on the day of surgery. There are so many questions that are simple but are not clearly answered by your consultant or even doctor. Sometimes due to not paying attention of these small matters you may experience discomfort before, during and after surgery. Well, we will answer your simple yet important questions about plastic surgery!

1. What to expect? How to get ready for surgery?

- For those of you who are afraid to go out then grocery shopping before the day of your surgery is a must. Don't forget your sunglasses or hat, and wear the most comfortable clothing that you have completed with comfortable shoes or sandals during summer. Buttoned shirts are preferable so it is easier to put on and take off.
Do not drive! Take the taxi instead.

2. How many hours does it take to finish the surgery?

-Easier surgery should take 1-2 hours to complete but other more complicated surgery takes more hours to complete. Do not set up an appointment, it is best to come in the morning or early afternoon, and set this one day to lay down in the operation table and just rest at home after the surgery no matter how easy or simple the procedure might be.

3. Is having surgery painful?

-We will be lying to you if we said it is not painful. Depending on the surgery, you will experience some pain and discomfort but don't worry as it is bearable! There are many patients who say that they are scared of pain but they went through the procedure just fine! Thank you to awesome sleeping anesthesia and the hospital's kindness for prescribing patients with pain medication the first few days of healing process is becoming less painful and super bearable.

4. What kind of follow up patients have to do?

-There are 2 kinds of follow up in our hospital. First is sterilization and second is the awesome stitch removal process.

First, 2-3 days after your surgery, you have to do first follow up: sterilization is when the nurse cleans your wounds that might be full of dirt and dried blood (yes it is very normal and common to bleed after the surgery as you are swelling).

Second, 7 days after the surgery, you have to come back to remove the stitch (this can be done in your home country) yes. It will hurt but beauty is pain and our representative will be there to calm you down. Our nurses are gentle and it will be bearable.

5. What should I do to get my message across to the surgeon?

-Due to language barrier, misunderstanding can happen therefore there is a chance you will be unhappy with the result. It is best to bring the picture of a celebrity or someone you like to get your message across then you can explain why you like the eyes or nose. What kind of features that you like from the picture you brought. Then the surgeon will have an idea on  what procedures he should do to achieve the result you requested. Furthermore, as your facial shape will differ with the selected celebrity, he will adjust the right shape of facial features that you like with your own face shape so it will match your style and it will not look misplaced or fake.

6. What are the chances that mistakes may happen?

-Our surgeon is very careful when it comes to doing surgical procedures on you. The doctor will take longer time to design your face before the surgery starts to ensure there will be no mistakes and surgery will finish in a perfect manner. It is recommended to do the surgery on the same day or next day after the consultation so that your request is still fresh in his mind.

7. What if mistakes happen anyway?

-Sometimes, even perfectly finished procedures may face complaints and dissatisfaction. For example, "I should have gone for higher crease!" or "I should have gone for higher nose bridge!" There are people who are scared of dramatic result and they went for conservative look only to find out they want more dramatic result. In this case, revision can be done at your own expense but you have to wait up to 1 year for full recovery before you can do revision. You cannot do anything during the swelling or bruising period as it is dangerous to do second surgery right away. Waiting is very frustrating therefore you have to be sure and confident to know what kind of result you want out of the surgery.
